What “internal weaknesses” ? Why should PR change anything after getting the best possible compensation for KBP residents and some residents very satisfied with the effort made by the state govt and the compensation they got. I would say it’s a success.

- Govt-owned ‘private’ hospitals
Hi Anil,The article didn’t mention any examples. Perhaps it would be good to have some concrete examples of “govt-owned private hospitals” or some statistics of how many. Otherwise, everyone is just shooting in the dark.
- An early general election?
Hi Anil,I think Najib will call the Sarawak elections first, and then hold the GE later. Having said that, he could also do it at the same time. Don’t know. As a Pakatan supporter, I don’t really want to speculate on what Najib will do, and when he will do it. However, I want Najib to crack his head about what WE will do. I want him to ponder, worry, guess, speculate, crack his brains, whether :
1. Pakatan will call, or not call, the state elections in all the four Pakatan states at the same time as when he calls the Sarawak elections.
2. Pakatan will call, or not call, the state elections in all the four Pakatan states DEPENDING on whether he calls the Sarawak elections at the same time as the GE.
3. Or perhaps Pakatan will NOT call the state elections in all the four Pakatan states until their full term is up.
4. Or Pakatan might call state elections in the four Pakatan states BEFORE, DURING or IMMEDIATELY AFTER Najib calls for elections.
5. Pakatan might call state elections in TWO Pakatan states first, and do two more later. OR in any other creative permutations.
To make matters worst for Najib, some BN component parties may out of desperation, break away from BN in the run-up to the elections. This may happen in Sabah and Sarawak. I want Najib to stay awake at night – wondering … guessing .. speculating.

I believe this time your housekeeper will still get into the BN van, and take the BN handout, AND then vote Pakatan ! Change do happen. Change We Can ! - Taib Mahmud in a room in House of Lords
The task of “unearthing many unpleasantries from DAP” has already been taken by the Star newspaper. The very well-funded and well-protected newspaper. No need for others to undertake the dirty job. We should publish those things which the mainstream media fails to, refuses to, afraid to or unwilling to, report. That’s justice. That’s balance. - Taib Mahmud in a room in House of Lords
Hi Anil,That means you are doing the right thing !
Ok, in my opinion, the so-called “independent journalism” cannot exist in Msia as long as the Printing Presses and Publications Act (PPPA) and other draconian laws like ISA, etc continue to exist in this country. The newspapers, TV, radio in this country continue to be controlled by the BN parties. Therefore, in this current situation, the primary role of Internet media/blogs in Msia must be to CORRECT and BALANCE the weight of news and publications. By implication, it means that the Internet community should give MORE airtime to opposition and dissenting news and views, in order to balance the weight of “BN-biased” news and views that dominate and saturate our airwaves (much of it funded by taxpayers’ money).
When the time comes that Pakatan takes over and successfully repeal all these draconian and unjust laws … when Msiakini, Malaysian Insider, Msia Today and perhaps even Anil himself can publish their own independent newspapers freely, and when independent private ventures can own media companies to compete freely and fairly with the Utusan Group, TV3 Group, Sin Chew, the Star, etc. – then and only then, can we talk about Independent Journalism in the true sense of the word.
Until then, Anil, you are doing the right thing and may I salute you for granting us the pleasure of reading and commenting on your blog.

Army supposed to be neutral in politics…
They are not neutral for sure….
Isa Samad won
The by election in Bagan Pinang
Nothing surprising
It is Umno fort
Tainted politician
Yet the people voted
Maybe the voters wanted money
Quick wealth from Umno
Promising many
The Umno says
Corruption still rings true
What more in the pipe?
Until the country coffers gone
Only then the people will realize
They haven’t waken up yet
Eyes still counting the ringgit sign
We will wait for GE 13
Let Umno feel the beat
We must be willing to change
Afraid and fear isn’t the way
I think Kam Buah Pala issue will surely cost PR dearly come next GE. Although I am a supporter of PR, but clearly they have to do some soul searching and deal with their internal weaknesses before it’s too late. Malaysians are not only forgetful but they don’t mind a corrupted politicians as long as he/she can bring “development”. Just look at Dr Mahathir’s time, no matter how many scandal exposed, voters would always returned him to power with 2/3 majority unbroken till Abdullah lose it.
Mahathir’s time is different. There are unlimited cash to give to all the cronies. When he knows the federal funds is on restricted zone, he readily gave up his PM position in 2003 or else he might lose the 2004 GE. 1 off win in Bagan Pinang is no indicator. There the indians who are so weak and defenceless are threatened…that they obediently vote for ISA (same like in Batang Ai). Come GE13 it will be diffrent.BN will not have the massive funds to buy and threatened all constituents…not like in Mahathir’s era.
About KBP, why do so many of you believe the spin media. From what I know, majority of the residents are happy with the compensation….they even form a new residents committee to oversee the progress of the compensation package kicking out sugumaran (whom I think is MIC trouble maker). So where is the logic…in BP just 1 lost and PR is criticise real bad (no doubt it is good as a wake up call before the GE13) but in KBP the majority supporting the compensation deal is ignored but the minority group not willing to accept the compensation is being highlighted over and over many times. I think it is good that the cows are move to other place because it has become a danger for motorist plying Jalan Gambir and the surrounding areas with the cows just crossing the roads without any cowherd controlling them. and it is also good for the cows as there are not enough grazing land to feed the cows. Just like the pig farmers who are made to relocate to gazetted areas in almost all states in Malaysia….and nobody take UMNO to task!!!!
I also believe Kg Buah Pala mishandling by LGE cause PAS defeated badly in this by-election. Stop your DAP spin
Gerakan K, Why you always sound so moody. I think you are in BN too long and The UMno youth rempit style of action has infested your emotional well being. Maybe you should try dissociating yourself from BN for a few months and I think you will be better off emotionally.
What “internal weaknesses” ? Why should PR change anything after getting the best possible compensation for KBP residents and some residents very satisfied with the effort made by the state govt and the compensation they got. I would say it’s a success.
…Will the swimming pool and futsal field appear in the army camp soon? BUT we now heard despite the hue and cry of the abuse and not following the procurement procedures and the exorbitant price tags on EC725 Eurocopter – yet now they are trying to sign the contract quietly…?
You put a (mediocre person) as candidate also the die hard UMNO fans or guilible locals will still vote for UMNO. The power of MONEY , Machinery & skills of manipulation. UMNO domination.
The first picture speaks a thousand words – no bluff, that’s blatant abuse of power by UMNO politicians and this public golf and country Club in Port Dickson was not spared either!
Any doubts on the outcome of its Army postal votes?
Nice pic the first one. At a glance I thought it was UMNO HQ in PD…….
Army = The another wing of UBN?
Unbelievable the people who don’t see Bagan Pinang as a roadblock that must be taken down.. So quick to critcise PR for KBP and Tanjung Tokong but Bagan Pinang win suddenly pathetic don’t yell at..
So easy to give up? So easy to stop believing. Why bother to live in this country and fight for anything? Stop pretending you are nothing more than ordinary and don’t deserve to be heard or pay attention to…
He Won simply he is very popular down there.
Nothing to do with wrong campaign or whatever failure in their strategy by the opposition..
Victory is defintely his no matter who stand against him.
It’s more like a family affair down there so outsider is
defintely out without doubt.
The KBP is a unfortunate event ,do not know who to blame BN&PR.The PR is young compare to BN(52 yrs of misrule)Do you think BN& UMNO will reform if PR has not captured a number of states.Anyway real reform has not taken place yet.
Losing this election is a blessing in disguise for PR.They should do a post mortom and correct their weakness.PAS is a real pain … for pakatan rakyat.Their over empahasis on morality like banning concerts and drinking beer frightens even the muslims. Why can’t they fight other important issues like poverty, injustic, corruption. They should ask their members to practise self discipline and dont blindly impose their views on others.Playing the majority and minority game will not be healthy in the long run.COME ON PAS GUYS LEARN FROM YOUR INDONESIAN COUNTERPART ,where religious people practise self discipline and bintang beer is avaliable everwhere.Dont behave like the Talibans.I think it is hightime the moderates take over PAS before PR sink togeather with pas in the next GE.
What about bring back Gerakan to rule Penang? With 1Malaysia in place, you do not have to fear islamic agenda by PAS!
