The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has reportedly detected government projects in Sarawak where up to 60 per cent of the funding was diverted.

“Based on the investigations the Sarawak MACC carried out on specific and real cases (projects), only about 40 per cent of the allocations were spent while the remaining 60 per cent is ‘bocor’ (leaked out),” MACC deputy chief commissioner (prevention) Zakaria Jaffar was quoted as saying.

These projects included roads, low-cost houses and mosques.

According to the Borneo Post:

Zakaria pointed out that while some projects were poorly completed, there were others that never took-off although payment was made.

“When we talk about development projects in the state, there are many cases of fake claims, whether it involves the officers or the contractors,” Zakaria pointed out.

He also told reporters that there were instances whereby contractors got allocations from members of parliament (MPs) and assemblymen for the same projects.

He explained that a project might cost about RM15,000, but the contractor would bid for that amount from both the MP and the assemblyman, thus the contractor would earn 100 per cent profit.

And the MPs and assembly members didn’t know about this?

So how is the MACC going to eliminate this?

He said the MACC from next year would conduct a seminar for contractors and also MPs and assemblymen.

He suggested that the Sarawak MACC hold such seminars with the state elected representatives, both MPs and assemblymen next year, on allocation for development projects.

Compare this with the MACC’s action in Selangor.

  1. MACC. If you are truly independant, Take immediate action against Sarawak BN state government (you can also try Johore, Pahang and Sabah). An Apollo net will also be ‘filled to the brim’ (A quote from H’Din). As I have said before, Why investigate only PR states like Selangor, Penang and Tok Guru Nik Aziz SIL. You will only get ikan bilis from this PR state, furthermore with the assistance of your silly entrapment program. As is general knowledge, A new govt would not dare to be corrupted. We the True malaysians have seen you through and through….a true puppet.

  3. In Malaysia, we having been asking for two party system. Actually we don’t need to ask for it, it is already there.

One set of law for the ruling BeEnd government and supporters with immunity where you can say and do nothing is wrong and the other for the opposition and supporters where you get the law enforcement harassment and they make sure to you with ISA.

You choose or you change to the right one.

  4. I just wonder why we border to havee the MACC at all! For they have yet to even earn a sen that has been spent from the taxpayers’ money.

Their selective persecutions and prosecutions are so blatant that it defies the ability of the mind to understand.

  5. This is why being a politician is such a lucrative job. There are lots of perks on the side.Being a BN politician is heaven sent. You don’t easily get caught, especially the higher up you are. Corruption is endemic in this country with no let up. Unfortunately the govt. institutions like MACC are under govt. control and when the govt. itself is corrupt don’t expect corruption to abate.

  9. They are going to conduct a ‘seminar’ on this issue. Stupid. The Malaysian way of sweeping matters under the carpet. Under Pak Lah was the ‘Institute Integrity Malaysia’ to preach the people instead of dragging the corrupted to court. BN is scared to haul the MPS and Asemblymen as they are too powerful that they will not support BN. Most are filthy rich and are well-connected. The ‘fixed deposit’ must not be disturbed by BN. Thus, the culture of corruption will never end. The taxpayers’ money is washed into the drain by BN. They don’t care as long as they are in power. Pakatan must show the way. There must be an end to all these wrongdoings. There must be a change of government.

  12. That “leaked out” does not mean corruption, but rather unwise spending. Yes, I agree that MACC must start its education seminar in order to teach them a better financial handling method. There were MACC actions in Selangor because there was member from PR made media statement and official reports regarding to corruption and power abuse.

    • MCCA just moves one step and then another step back. That is what Gerakan/umno ask MCCA to do. Our Country has not been moving forward at all under Gerakan/Umno. Thailand and Vietnam or China ACTS ahead. China shot those sold tainted milk

  16. I do not want to comment for a case which is not yet concluded (suicide or homicide who knows?). Innocent young man, who knows? But according to MP from PR, YB Wee Choo Keong, there are corruption and power abuses. YB Wee had lodged offical report. So what MACC did is just follow up that allegation. MACC has done a good job so far

    • Until you see the coffin, you will not shed tears, this is a classic Chinese saying correctly applied for you, Gerakan K. Honestly, I just cannot help but laughed sometimes I read your comments. Are you sincerely ignorant of all the happenings? Or are you deliberately trying to create some life here? Honestly, not once, but every of your comments are not accepted by the general viewers, and I do see that you make your comments during the wee hours of the day. 17. Billions of taxpayers’ money is wasted. The main stream media is silent about the whole thing. We have leaders who have done terrible sins and we have to read Malaysia Today to know the truth, not the MSM. The MSM is quiet about the whole thing. Money is siphoned out of the country and MSM is silent about it. Huge commissions were given to some individuals with good connections. MSM is quiet about this. A poor Mongolian lady was murdered and MSM is not highlighting this. The people are not stupid anymore, The Red Dot down south is a progressive (despite not talking about bangsa, agama dan negara) nation with reserves so strong although it has no natural resources. Here, taxpayers’ money goes to corrupted individuals, sent out of the country, inflated costs of contacts and projects, wasteful projects, stupid mind-eroding BTN, stupid time and money wasting seminars and exhibitions, overseas trips for politicians who bring back nothing in investments, commisions, bail outs of cronies, swindling of banks, bailouts of banks and failed projects, wasteful education projects (our education system is completely flawed – we have university teachers nowadays with titles of dr, associate prof and prof who are not fit at all to hold them), the list goes on and on. This is the country that talks about “untuk bangsa, agama dan negara” and leaders calling it an “Islamic country”. To the rakyat, they are just hypocrites who are CHEATING the people. This government should be toppled peacefully. The country is now on a 2-party or coalition mode. Good. We need a change and bring all these cheats to be charged in court. The feudal mindset must change. Leaders must be clean. The “dirty” and tainted ones should be removed. Let all these be a wake up call to all Malaysians.

  18. After saying all that, the MACC now wants to arrange a seminar for state reps and MPs? Just haul the guilty ones to court. The rest will learn real quick! MACC is getting to be a big joke on the Malaysian public.

  19. This guy Gerakan K, is absolutely drown in a world of his own. His continued refusal to accept the truth and continuance of his spinnings of falsehoods is going to tell on him very soon.

Money,60% of money diverted, does not mean corruption? He is a sick man, a sick man too engrossed to serve his political masters! Where was the money diverted? 60% of billions diverted means money spent unwisely? A sick man’s logic. The money were unwisely spent in the country or are they diverted to off shores banks? If the 60% are unwisely spent and in the country then it is fine, but, why is your beloved country losing out so much year after year? Where is your gold reserves? It stood at one time to be around 75 tonnes, and your ringit is printed against your holdings of the said reserves. Your ringit was so strong in the early 90′s, why is it so weak now? Your gold reserves today stands at around 12 tonnes, where did the 63 tonnes of gold vanish? Wrongly delivered to a third party, Gerakan K?

Insyallah God forgives you for your lies.
