  5. This government is led by (certain people) who rob its’ rakyat. it is not people oriented as claimed by its leaders. Shahrir Samad is finally proving he is no different from any other UMNO ministers. In fact if he were to stand in a by-election like what he did back then he would lose miserably.

But onething is (probable). just before the by-election in Terengganu, Najib will reduce a further 20sen to attract voters.

  8. My friend lives in New Zealand. At the height of oil price, the pump was 2.15. It’s now 1.52 for 95/96 1.43 for 91 and 1.20 for diesel. Shell and Caltex are usually cheaper.
Let us forget the exchange rate but look at the lowest wage of NZ$2000.00 plus for anyone who works. Are we not paying more? Besides, NZ does not produce any oil.

  10. Consider these..

    1. Crude oil price is a future trading thingy..
    2. 48 dollar might be the price for now, but to be honest the average price last week would be around 55-58 dollar. This will resemblance price at pump for today, rather than today’s 48 dollar price of crude oil .
    3. Don’t overlook the other form of subsidies given in terms of fuel rebate RM625.
    4. Will you be happy if government priced fuel below market price to please some of the readers here? Petronas is money making ok.
    5. Can we at least take a breather and be thankful.

I don’t know what else to say.

  12. So according to my theory.. hehe

Based on average price of 55-58 dollar, and taking from the data given above, price should be rm1.62 per liter.

    Ok. Price at pump now

rm1.90 per liter PLUS RM625 fuel rebate. Ok la tu.

  13. More importantly now,

get the food, groceries price reduced in line with reduction in fuel price.

they no longer have any reason to keep the price high.

promote consumerisme. boycott when necessary. KPDNHEP play role in doing spot checks and punish those who are degil.

  17. Subsidy of RM2.5 billion through the post office? That figure is certainly bandied about, the question left is how much will the government make through the price being RM1.92? And this should be the question we should be asking. Any answers from the BN government supporters here?

The government making money is something we do not begrudge. But when they spend money like water, that is simply not acceptable. This has been reported time and again by the Auditor General’s Report year in yera out.

  19. It’s all relative. Under the present citrcumstances with everything revolving around petroleum, RM1.50 a litre would be about right. However, I’m aghast that NOBODY is talking about weaning our economies and lifestyle completely off fossil fuels – all of which contaminate & pollute & are atrociously inefficient. In an Equatorial country we really would have done well to start implementing solar energy 20 years ago but it’s never too late. That can be supplemented by wind, wave & whatever cutting-edge technology is found workable – and I know there are many alternatives, mostly blocked by the greedy dinosaurian oil companies.

  20. Sharir : “We can’t lower the price too quickly as we have to protect the petrol station owner.”

Me : I just can’t understand why a few thousand petrol station owners are more important than the millions who would benefit from a lower price.

Sharir : “The pump price include a lot of other cost, not only the petrol cost and as such we can’t lower the price accordingly.”

Me : Betul-betul tak faham such illogic !! Maybe I am stupid.

Sharir : “Petrol is a control item. By setting a floor on the petrol price it will also benefit the consumer as the price-control structure will ease the price increase.”

Me : This got to take the cake. So what he is saying is that when the price goes up the government will paper-subsidise the price increase and when the price comes down the rakyat will ACTUALLY subsidise the government for their incompetence.

How come price-controlled items are often sold lower than the controlled price ? I smell a cartel rat !

LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE PLAYING MASAK MASAK WITH US. YOU KNOW WHAT? JUST WENT TO TIAN CHUA BLOG AND HE SAID THE PRIME MINISTER JUST WALK INTO PARLIAMENT AT 10 PM. IN A SHORT WHILE HE IS TAKING HIS NAP IN PARLIAMENT. REALLY PM BOLEH. HOW IN THE WORLD IS HE GOING TO REFORM THE JUDICIARY, THE ACA AND THE POLICE. HE GOT LESS THAN 4 MONTHS FROM NOW. LOOKS LIKE HE IS NOT GOING TO MAKE IT. AS USUAL TALK ONLY NO ACTION(NATO) BUT IT’S ALRIGHT, HE IS LEAVING A LEGACY BEHIND AS THE PRIME MINISTER WHO CREATED THE HIGHEST INFLATION IN THIS COUNTRY AFTER MORE THAN 25 YEARS. WHO CAN BEAT THAT.

  23. Not to mention the interest earned from the RM2.5 billion PARKED in the bank while Malaysian SLOWLY came in to take their money…RM2,500,000,000 X 3.5 % = RM 87,500,000 annually / 12 month = RM 7,291,667 monthly / 31 days = RM 235,215 daily.

  24. pls don’t look highly on RM625 paid via POSTAL ORDER. Someone is making millions over postal order commission. Can they just pay by check form JPJ when renewing our road tax?

Petrol price is one issue, talking CRAP and BULL-S**T is another thing then PUBLIC TRANSPORT is again another issue.
Ever wonder why our public transport NEVER IMPROVE over the years. I think the government NEVER PLANS to improve it as it will REDUCE INCOME for PROTON and PETRONAS when people start to by less car and drive less (use less petrol). think about this.

  25. Dear µalaysians,

Please have a look at the page linked below. It shows the petroleum price trends of several different countries. Malaysia’s prices have always been on the low end of this chart. This is due to the subsidies from the government.

    http://www.criterioncatalysts.com/home/content/sg-en/shell_for_motorists/fuels/petrol_pricing/petrol_prices2_big_0928.html

There are two things I find incredible about our complaints about petrol price. First, its already cheaper than most places in the world. What we’re asking for isn’t fair prices, we’re demanding to be treated like babies who can’t stand on their own two feet. Unless we earn less than RM1500/month, I think we can live with it. Secondly, from an economic point of view, subsidies are inefficient and distortionary. They are inefficient because they also benefit people who don’t need it, since they’re a general subsidy. They are distortionary because they mask the true cost of doing business in Malaysia, and gives rise to a pattern of petrol usage that is wasteful due to the low price.

Instead of clamoring for more subsidy and being just as short-sighted as the policymakers who came up with this nonsense, lets look long term and work on energy conservation, car-pooling, clean and green technology etc. It may hurt in the short term, but we’ll have more jobs, and a cleaner environment to live in over the longer term.
