Whichever way you look at it, Idris Jala’s appointment as “KPI” minister must be bad news for the other “KPI” minister, Koh Tsu Koon. A friend sent me a text message, with a pointed observation: “looks like ktk is surplus to requirements”, never mind that Idris is supposed to “report” to Tsu Koon on “KPI” issues.

The news comes as the Kg Buah Pala villagers stand on the brink of losing their village. No thanks to Mr KPI for allowing the land to be sold under his watch – and then remaining largely silent about what actually transpired back then while the villagers agonise ahead of demolition day.

So now we have two “KPI” ministers as the Cabinet bloats up again. “Performance now”, huh?

Perhaps one of the first “KPIs” Idris should look at is the 30 per cent target. (No, I’m not referring to the NEP.) To find out which 30 per cent I mean, read this piece I wrote after the Permatang Pasir by-election. Perhaps our country wouldn’t be in such a mess if this particular group achieves parity.

PENANG, Malaysia, Aug 26 (IPS) – Yet another by-election is over in Malaysia.

Tuesday night, a candidate from the opposition Pakatan Rakyat (People’s Alliance or PR) defeated a candidate from the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition in a semi-rural constituency on mainland Penang. That brought the by-election tally to 7-1 in favour of the PR since the last general election in March 2008.

These by-elections are important barometers of public opinion. The opposition Alliance is hoping the by-election momentum will catapult it to victory in the next general election after it deprived the BN, which has ruled the country for 52 years, of its coveted two-thirds majority in Parliament last year.

But there is one glaring statistic… Full article here.

  1. Whatever spin the KTK’s apologists can play it, it is still a public slap on KTK’s face.

    Shame! Shame! Shame!

  2. If two persons are employed to do the same job, then one is redundant. Guess who is the one.

This is a two tight slaps on Koh Tsu Koon’s face. I wonder how thick is his skin. And I wonder what excuse will he give.

If he has any pride, he should resign and pronto.

where this guy would follow whatever the Japanese
    occupationist in China said.

When asked to crawl , he would immediately responded yes, yes , I crawl , I crawl. (wei ping au-actor’s name)

  9. Koh Tsu Koon is now a puppet, and had alwasy been. Actually this is the type of job he does best. He had been well prepared when he was a puppet Chief Minister of Penang, always saying yes to the Chinese developers, Chinese businessmen…. apart from UMNO.

  10. I have never heard of two Ministers sitting on one chair! If they try to do so, then the space is so small that it will be half-chair each! Of course, the PM tries to placate Mr. KPI One by stating that the second KPI Minister would report to the first! It would not look “nice” if KPI One has to report to KPI Two, right?

Now the ball is in KPI One’s court: should he resign and go back to Penang to solve the Kampong Buah Pala case? Or should he stay put in Putrajaya, hoping that he might be given some other minor role to play! Just imagine: the President of Gerakan is given a minor post!

It appears to me that the PM has no GUTS to do what is right and proepr when it came to chosoe his Cabinet! What criterion, if any, did he use to pick persons to be Minister or Deputy Minister?

    1. Should he pick persons who have won in both the Parliamentary seat and also won their Party seats? If this is the criterion, then quite a number of ministers do not qualify to be Ministers!

    2. Or should he choose only those who won the Party seats?
Here again, some Ministers lost their Party seats!

Or has the PM thought about the qualities of a member!

    It is not clear!

KPI One is the last person to be able to check the performances of each Minister while his own KPI in Penang is nothing to be proud of! Land scam is one. Kg. Buah Pala is another.

  14. How could a minister reports to another minister of the same post. It is a joke.

I guess the PM knows that KTK is incompetent with the job and he needs a replacement. KTK would be made redundant from now on.

  16. It is a cunny move by the PM. Kill 3 bird or more with one stone.

1st Bird: To remove Jala from MAS after juicing him out and for the objection to the UMNO develop plan for AAsia.

2nd: To give Sarawakian 1 more cabinet post so as to convince the Sarawakian to vote for BN in the soon to be held state election.

3rd: When appionting KTK to the cabinet the PM want to pacified the Gerakan, MCA, MIC member so as not to blame UMNO for the 308 defeat. After doing so the infighting in MCA, MIC and Gerakan had not stop leading to resignation and sacking. Just look at the timing. CSL sacked Jala appionted.

and many more bird which cannot be written here such religion, racial and corruption.

  17. I think Najib has thrown Idris into a crocodiles pond. Managing MAS staff is a far cry from dealing with politicians who’ve seen better days and still think that everyone is below them. And what’s going to happen to MAS after Idris leave? Bring back Diam Zainuddin to “clean” it out again? Want to bet that an Umno guy will be appointed?

As for the fella Ah Koon, he should give up politics alltogether, go some place to study fungshui or chinese traditional medicine and build his career on either. Who knows, he might discover where his forte lies because he has none judging form his past performance.

  18. It is plain for all to see what the PM thinks of KTK.

KTK is more than just useless. He is a sick joke. He doesn’t even have the decency to provide an accountability on the land scams that he presided over.

  19. I wonder if Idris Jala appointment is to remove him from MAS (he potong jalan of many people to riches previously available from Tajuddin time) or to downgrade Dr Koh.

Basically you don’t need so many people to collect KPI data if the role of the ministry is only to gather data (otherwise the PM or DPM should head the KPI ministry). It’s also more effective to get experts (ie. consultants) to monitor performance for feeding back to the PM than to have 2 chiefs running a ministry to collect data.

  21. The backdoor listed and “people rejected” KPI minister, your days are out numbered. Since your appointment through the backdoor until now, we have yet to see your performance. Where are the KPI reports on the ministers? Dare you give a bad report to certain ministers? The KPI post is redundant.

Better resign and return to Penang to face the villagers of Kampung Buah Pala. They need your performance.
