Cabinet to review petrol price on Wed: Shahrir

According to Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Shahrir Samad, the Cabinet will review the petrol and diesel prices this Wednesday. It is set to discuss a proposal to reduce retail prices. This from Shahrir’s website in a posting titled ‘Price drop ahead of Raya?’:

JOHOR BAHRU 20 Sept.

Whatever happens to the ‘automatic mechanism’ they were talking about in respect to price adjustment according to the market price of oil?

  1. Whatever happens to the ‘automatic mechanism’ they were talking about in respect to price-adjustment according to the market price of oil? Cakap bohong lagi….

  2. long overdue ,good at making promises without doing their home work first…tipu tipu bohong bohong

  3. So arbitary. There seemed to be no proper system in place to make the calculation. i wonder if the oil companies / retailers is going to loose big money due to this.

  4. Everyone is going to lose but sure not BN/UMNO… Cause they don’t know what went wrong, Primary School Politician. It’s a pity that the Government is being run by a bunch of loser/bozo!!

  5. Dalbinder Singh Gill on September 22nd, 2008 at 8.14pm

Teresa Kok has lied to all malaysians , she said she got dog food in prison, which is a lie, just watched latest news and i am very upset as now she says she got chicken and others, therefore why make a conclusion just from one meal, its a balance diet ok teresa. She has lied and this has broken the confidence i never had in her, haha.

  6. anil, how’s the petrol price calculated? the crude oil is about USD105 now which translate to RM2.15 per my estimate. what say you? TQ

  7. What is the point? Prices of essential goods and even stall food has been raised. Are they going to lower their price again when petrol price is lowered? No way. The damage has been done. Only motorist will benefit. A stupid mistake has been made and we the rakyat has to pay a high price for BN stupidity.

  8. The petrol price now at RM2.50 was based on USD115. It was RM2.70 when the price was USD125. We are looking at RM2.30 min at USD105.

  9. Dalbinder grow up lah paueh, YOU CAN BE GIVEN CHICKEN, BUT IF IT COOKED BY A S***TY CHEF, or if is a last weeks accident chicken which fell off the truck than that is another story. than there is ‘chicken’ and and there is ‘chicken’, is this the chicken bought in supermarket or a proper stall selling chicken, or is this the rejected chicken thrown away by stall owners, picked up, recycled, repackaged by the myanmar ‘visiters’ to our country. Like the expose last week regarding this ‘new’ old phonomena. I am very sure you have been fed atrocious food cooked by a half past six chef. Is this prison food supply another outsourcing tender or PROJECT, TYPICAL OF THE bn govt, direct tender award? Meaning is this another crony supplier appointed to the highest standards of the NEP, to unqualified food suppliers as typically shown by news reports of NS TRAINEES FALLING SICK TO UNHYGIENIC FOOD PRACTICES.
Is this another scandal. Up to you to decide. why not have a free stay in prison, as it seems that the home ministry has a new policy of providing a new experience in the term ‘protection’ under the ISA. SO what say you DALBINDER paueh, talk is cheap, when being an armchair critic.

    THIS IS OFF TOPIC

The sudden withdrawal of Sabah Progressive Party (Sapp) from Barisan Nasional last week as a “shocking revelation” came to light.

Its disgruntled ex-deputy president Raymond Tan claimed on Saturday that he had been instrumental in preventing the arrest of party president Yong Teck Lee in June in relation to allegations of corruption.

An English-language daily in Sabah quoted Tan as saying that Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had wanted Yong arrested by the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA). This was after Yong spearheaded a no-confidence vote against Abdullah’s leadership.

In defending himself against claims of ingratitude by failing to support the Sapp pullout, Tan revealed that he had intervened on Yong’s behalf in June.

He said he had pleaded with Abdullah not to arrest Yong as it would be a bad move, and had even gone on television with a plea to allow the latter to speak up.

Wah like that also possible meh, SO what does this statement say to us? This revelation says our Prime Minister is interfering in … investigations as per regarding corrupt practises. But I thought the PM has been saying the BN led government never interferes in corruption cases. IS IT A LIE? So that means there is, blatant abuse of power by the PM and his cabinet. Don’t forget Anwar ibrahim was arrested and charged for abuse of power for the very same reason. So the allegation of selective prosecution by the executive has been proven beyond any doubt by this revelation. Will someone file charges, police report, citizens’ arrest etc. against the PM, for abuse of Power, by hindering the Police from exercising their constitutional duty. Will the home minister demand the resignation of the PM, or censure the PM among his peers or should the Home Minister also be charged now for lying to the public. WILL SOMEONE MAKE A POLICE REPORT AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT?

IN FIRST WORLD COUNTRIES SUCH PROOF HAS LED GOVERNMENTS TO BE FORCED OUT OF OFFICE AND RE-ELECTIONS CONDUCTED. Will this happen in Malaysia?, I don’t think so, We Malaysians are all aware the present BN government led and controlled by Umno is nothing more than a dictatorship, Democracy in name only, but a dictatorship by practise.
A very pertinent answer by the Home Minister let the cat out of the bag. When Hamid ALBAR was asked why ISA action was taken Sin Chew reporter and Teresa Kok, (both actions seen as a selective backlash) whilst No action was taken against AHMAD ISMAIL, who started the ball rolling, by uttering seditious statements, WHY no government action was taken against him? The reply by our home minister Hamid Albar astounded all the reporters, ‘ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN, UMNO HAS SUSPENDED HIM, ISN’T THAT ENOUGH’ or words to that affect.

What that means is Home Minister, Syed Hamid Albar has openly declared, albeit indirectly, THAT UMNO IS THE GOVERNMENT, AND THE GOVERNMENT IS UMNO, NOT BN.WHAT WE SAY GOES.
The pertinent Question that than arises, what about the other component parties, aren’t they partners in the governing of Malaysia as declared during elections and BN manifestos and slogans, don’t they have a say, or are they just rubber-stamps to UMNO POLICIES, POWERLESS and lame ducks?
What than does that say for MCA, MIC, PPP and ALL THE east-Malaysia parties?

This open declaration by the Home minister thus puts to rest once and for all the myth; BN is a coalition of many multi-ethnic Political parties. This is further than the truth.
    IT IS NOT.
It is a coalition of a master in the form of UMNO, and servant or slaves in the form of all the coalition partners. Whichever way you put it look at it .In actual fact the reality of
“I command and you follow seems to be the reality”. Is this what Malaysians bargained for? I don’t think so. I think WE, RAKYAT MALAYSIA, have been lied to and misled by this lie called BN, especially UMNO long enough.
The time has come for us the rakyat, to put a stop to this and support the pakatan moves of changing the government through tried and tested methods employed by BN in the past, lets give them a taste of their own medicine . so folks what say you, LETS ALL PUT OUR MONEY WHERE OUR MOUTH ARE OR FOREVER HOLD OUR PEACE.

  10. What is the big deal! Price increased by 78 cents per liter. Prices of most goods gone up sky high. Reduced by 15 cents per liter during the PP by-election. Please tell me, any price drop for the things you buy and the food you eat. NO RIGHT? So in the coming days we can expect further drop in the price of petrol and diesel. DO YOU REALLY THINK PRICES OF GOODS AND FOOD WILL BE REDUCED? THINK AGAIN.

  11. Anil do you know but it is a fact, We Malaysians were paying way above the world market price for petrol in the 70s and 80s. So all this political propoganda of subsidy is just that, propoganda, What about the sale tax and other hidden cost of which the monies go to the govt from the sale of petrol in the form of land taxes, on the petrol stations, income taxes of the proprieters, company tax, sales taxes and all kind of other taxes. What the govt. so called gives out in subsidies, comes back IN OTHER FORMS, it is a political myth of the UMNO LED GOVT. What about the umpteen donkey years when Malaysians were paying above the world market prices, WERE WE THE PEOPLE ‘SUBSIDISING’ THE GOVT AND PETRONAS? WHAT SAY YOU PM AND EX-PM AMHATHIR, any answer. This was Mahathir’s way of squeezing the Malaysians…

  12. They keep lying and lying. I thought it was earlier announced that if the crude price per barrel dropped further there would be a reduction? Now they are saying “wait and see whether to reduce or maintain”. Why maintain? Should be reduce!

  13. Where was the commitment that prices of feul will be reviewed every two weeks. Gone with the wind after the election!

  14. Bad news, folks. World oil prices are up 16 dollars today.
