These are Google Earth images over the last four years, which GIS expert Dr Kam Suan Pheng of Penang Forum downloaded and commented on.
This is what the site looked like four years ago. Notice a building on the site:
“Then two years later, some clearing where the building stood in 2013,” Dr Kam observes. “The red line is the alignment of the cut slope as it is today”:
“By November 2015, notice the exposed boulders as the earth is removed to level the land”:
“Just less than two months later, the crescent-shaped slope is getting more obvious as earthworks must have been carried out at a hectic pace”:
“And just under two months later, we have the ‘flat land’ for building construction, next to the ‘adjacent hill slope’, created by them not by nature.”
A Penang resident sent me this clear photo of the construction site on 9 September 2016, showing the now ‘flat land’. Notice the gradient of the slopes by then.
