BN has always been one-track minded – CONSTRUCTION and MEGA PROJECTS (with 100% commission to cronies pockets). However, when it comes to maintenance and enforcement, it is sorely lacking. Just check the many commercial areas in Puchong, Equine, Old Klang Road, Cheras, etc. Highways are badly designed, causing MORE congestion, new roads are redrilled and repatched endless times, manhole covers missing, tiles of pavement walks broken and not repaired for years, flash floods (even with the UN-Smart tunnel)- I can go on and on.

I can illustrate the same for my hometown of Melaka. First the govt (Thamby Chick…) took a community football field (where Malaccans of all races play in) and turn it into a Light and Sound shoe ground. We call it a blodd-sucking-mosquito-party show, who in their right mind wants to sit in open darkness and get stung by hundreds of mozzies while watching some stupid “history” with amateurish lights and shounds display?

They also proceeded to chop off the huge trees which are hundreds of years old, for these development of condomuniums and hotels, etc. Now the famous Malacca seaside is no more, only in history books.

Of course they also have to change the Jonker St and Heeren St to Malay names, and which no Malaccans can remember, let alone tourists. All in the name of “wiping out British influences” – and this is a town known for its historical heritage???? So by wiping out the history, can we still call it Historical Malacca? Bodoh.

Thank God the bridge linking Malacca to Sumatera did not happen, otherwise it will be like Sabah (lots of immigrants with MyKad to vote for UMNO)

BN will not learn. They are only concerned with construction, not maintenance. Please, Penangites, do not listen to the empty promises of “Masters of Modernisation”.

Buildings will not improve the standard of living. It’s racial harmony and unity that will.

In KL and Selangor, please come and visit the many empty ghost like building towers with no tenants. If the govt and municipals will just maintain the roads properly and fix broken lights, repairs all the schools, and keep crime low, I will be very happy.

I am 21 and I am from Penang. I highly oppose the PGCC if it is going to be implemented in a manner that will cause further social and environmental problems. Indeed, this sort of development plan is inevitable for Penang island but really, if a development plan that claims to be sustainable is far from it, it would make things worse to disguise it underneath a blanket of environmental jargons.

Please think twice before making the statement that all or most young Penangites would support such a project. I for one know that a few of my friends share my sentiments. Many of my friends have in fact participated in heritage conservation activities in Penang. Seriously, think twice before making assumptions about young people.

With regards to the ORR, KL’s transport system, in particular, even with its many expressways, is still not enough to address congestion due to excess sprawl outside KL and overwhelming car use, while public transport is still patchy in coverage and inefficient outside the city. With additional linkage to the mainland, how will Penang coup, even with the ORR?

As the Almighty has given your father a new lease of life, and being the fair-minded person that you are, please impress upon him to turn over a new leaf when he has fully recovered, by exposing all the corrupt ministers and top government officials in his previous cabinet. Maybe you could even advice him to return all his ill-gotten gains to all of us poor Malaysians, and at the same time, shed light on the Lingamgate scandal as he may have played a pivotal role in this matter. With hari raya being just around the corner, I think that the time is right for your father to bury the hatchet with Anwar Ibrahim and let bygones be bygones and enlighten us as to what really transpired during Anwar’s ouster. Like all other right thinking Malaysians, I hope that Mahathir will truly repent of all his wrongdoings and make restitution to all his fellow citizens wherever possible. May I take this golden opportunity of wishing your father a speedy recovery and to wish both you and your family a very selamat hari raya.

I wish here to relate an incident to you for your amusement. Recently, a private tv station invited me to participate in a reality tv show to highlight the talents of the disabled community where some recordings have already been made for the programme through my participation. However, when the tv authorities visited my blog and found out that I am critical of the government, I was unceremoniously dropped from the show. When I brought this matter to the attention of Malaysiakini, their investigative reporter was told by the tv authorities that the programme was only meant to highlight the talents of muslim handicapped people. It is quite obvious that I was dropped from the programme because of my political views, and not for the lame excuse which they gave to Malaysiakini. Unfortunately, Malaysiakini took their explanation for the gospel truth, and as such, has decided not to follow up with the matter. As we all know, all the tv stations in Malaysia are controlled and owned by the government and their cronies. I have come to the conclusion that the tv station’s management has dropped me from the show because of my dissenting views towards the government. This is certainly laughable, don’t you think? Finally Anil, please share this email with your many readers, so that they can have a better understanding of this very dictatorial, discriminatory and inefficient government.
