The maturity of a nation is also reflected in its attention to addressing social inequality and poverty, which interact with and exacerbate poor somatic and psychological health.

From pre-eclamptic toxaemia of pregnancy to schizophrenia among a long list of diagnosis, the lower socio-economic groups are overly and disproportionately represented. A study in UK years back also revealed that even the previously thought “diseases of afflunet society”, ischaemic heart diseases, have a disproportionately high
incidence in class 4 socio-economic group.

Thus social and political dysfunction carry with them both an increased burden on health care expenditure of a nation and a loss of creativity and productivity through physical and psychiatric morbidity. These on top of increased spending on crime mitigation as well as judicial load and rehabilitative service.

Malaysia is entering such a vicious circle, which drains its national vitality.

Mild anxiety disorder is a wide spread modern day health problem. The extend of the problem is way beyond the understanding of modern medicine. This problem stem from the extention of day light to night time. This is a problem, I call it SD, which stand for sleeping disorder or sexual dysfunction depend on which marry status you are in. With the introdution of computer and video games, the situation is getting worst. The age group that suffered from sleeping disorder problem in most Chinese Malaysian family is getting younger. Symptoms including high incident of Myopia(near sight) and other eyes sight related problems among young age group, bad temper, low emotional Quotient. What most people didn’t realise is that the late night sleeping habit is the main cause of anxiety disorder. A lot of people just couldn’t be bother about their inability to sleep, some although in marry status hardly be able to sleep ‘cos they hardly make love. That is the reason why I also call it a problem of sexual dysfunction. If you hari-harimau, you will hari hari fall asleep early. 70% out of 160 people I treated suffered from SD or married without sex. 99% percent of them come from middle and upper income group. The poor seem to have less SD problem, ‘cos sex is the only entertainment they can afford.SD is their marriage partner not me or any doctor.

Of course lah, when you see a Crony who drives a RM3 million Ferrari and you are there struggling to pay for your weekly grocery bill and cracking your head at the price of rice, milk and basic survival foods.

Of course we will be mental.

Then you see many Tan Sri’s and Datuk’s children who get scholarships to study and your own kid, who scores 9A1’s not getting any scholarships.

Of course you get mental.

You try to understand how come children living in Damansara Heights, in RM8 to RM15 million dollar homes can get scholarships and your kid, living in a PKNS flat, cannot get any scholarship.

You get even mental when you find out that the rich kids have even got so low grades and yet they managed to get the scholarships.
