The Penang Island Municipal Council (MPPP) is believed to have sent its officers out to enforce a stop work order at an RMAF school construction site in Tanjung Bunga.
These photos were taken earlier today before the MPPP took action.
The MPPP action followed a complaint by a neighbouring resident that work was still proceeding despite a stop work order.
Drilling work was also going on, said a resident.
Thumping and knocking sounds could be heard from the site. A source said workers appeared to be doing external work, wiring, etc.
Another neighbouring resident said he had seen workers trooping out of the site in the evenings.
Reporters and council personnel turned up at the site to investigate.
“A stop work order means just that – all work, including maintenance and any other work on site, has to stop,” said the source, who added he was informed that the stop work order would be in place until all building plans and other requirements were submitted to the MPPP and approved.
If MPPP could impose a stop-work order on this project, why could it not impose a stop-work order on the monstrous Botanical Garden project? Is this a case of MPPP and Lim Guan Eng’s administration picking and choosing which projects to stop and which projects to close one-eye depending on how much cheap publicity LGE can get for himself?

Pearl, you are just telling half truth… Since when has the Botanical Garden being sold ! DUDE. In fact LGE got 7 million for the Botanical restoration and with your idol UMNO & NAJIB Federal administration INCOMPETENCY the project went off course. So don`t blame it on LGE. The blame should also be on you were not bother to tell off the Federal authorities but instead mumble and shouting over here…. Could it be the Arch is not a building housing people? Also in the beginning,it is handled by Federal JPS as it is directed by the Federal Minister of Tourism. It is a “normal” practice for local council not to campur tangan when the project is directly run by any Federal Agency such as Federal JPS. You expect the Federal JKR which our old Sammy was the big boss to get “approval” from a local (not LOCAL) council in Gerakan/UMNO State?…

MPPP imposed stop order here because the CONSTRUCTION WORK is disturbing the neighbours. The din created causes public disorder. The contractor thinks they are Napoleans… In the case,the construction din in the Botanical Garden only disturb the monkeys…

Have to wonder whatever has happened to MPPP.
When it comes to illegal structures erected by hawkers or kopitiams the MPPP team would go tearing down the structures.
But when it comes to FED constructions no sign of MPPP.
Why the FED gets special treatments every single time?
Is the DAP-led Penang State government in secret collaboration with the FED?
Be fair to the Penangites, Lim Guan Eng.
If you have the guts tearing down hawkers’ structures which are illegally built you should have the same guts tearing down those FED constructed buildings.

Keep on spewing incoherent assumptions and why-can’t-we-push-Feds.
If it is that easy to counter the Feds, no such fiascos and nonsense would have happened in Penang in the first place. Also with a push-over previous CM KTK, you guest as as good as mine.

… MPPP which tore down illegal structure were on state land which were an eyesore. Order to tore down structure or building on private land require stringent checking on whether they have being approved or not. In the RMAF case when it was found to have being built illegal the order to stop was given. That is transparency enough. Moreover you are also a HYPOCRITE. You have seen the building, WHY DIDN`T YOU REPORT TO THE AUTHORITIES BUT KEEP BLAMING ON THE ADUN. Have you stoop so low as to keep quiet and later blame on other. Please don`t give reason that you don`t know that it is illegal. If so all the other who have seen the building might ALSO not have knowN it is illegal. USE YOUR HEAD DUDE. I can fully understand when one shows anger on our beloved Dr M, our present Mr PM, Mr Samy, Mr Toyo, Mr CM of Sarawak, KJ, etc but i really cant understand why are we so against Lim Guan Eng, a guy who laid down his life for a poor Malay woman, and the most humble CM i have ever seen, and he is only in his 2nd year in Penang compared to Dr Koh’s 18 years… and we are barking at him vehemently and profusely for the many goods he has done which i am not going to list out here….
Please take good care of your health, do some meditation or taichi or qi kong to get the bad “qi” out of you.

I think LGE has shown enough guts … to do what a CM needs to do. Unlike KTK, who has to run around … (under UMNO…) trying to understand what needs to be done.
For that, my votes and whole lot of people of people in Penang will still for LGE. We have tasted ‘sugar’, and trust me I don’t need any more ‘sour and bitter’ flavors from BN
