I don’t understand the suggestion for Nizar to run for Bukit Gantang. Doesn’t he already have a seat? I know a state can have 2 MBs, can an MB have 2 seats? Would he have to hold 2 hands up in votes?
Bukit Gantang is a parliamentary seat, the other is a state assembly seat. – Anil

Another three in Perak to defect?
By Lee Wei Lian (The Malaysian Insider)
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 — Speculation is rife that four more state assemblymen from Pakatan Rakyat (PR) parties are ready to defect to the Barisan Nasional (BN).
The four names being cited in various text message exchanges are Keshvinder Singh (DAP) from Malim Nawar, A. Siva Subramanium (DAP) from Buntong and S. Kesavan (PKR) from Hutan Melintang and Tai Sing Ng (PKR) from Kuala Sepetang.

Nizar is really something else, isn’t he?
So quiet and unassuming – who would have thought that underneath it all lie such nerves of steel?
And through it all, he never once pointed fingers.
Never blamed Anwar for the defections.
Never pointed finger at PKR and DAP, although it was their leaping reps which caused his Government to fall.
Always putting up a brave and positive front.
Nizar has actually made PAS a lot more palatable to the rest of the nation.
Bless u Nizar and take care.

Dear Anil
Talking generally, it will take another 50-100 years before
the sons of the soil will learn what is happening around the world.
See Indonesia, India and many democratice countries haave had a
look at the Institution of Sultanate and have taken proper decisions.
The Reason is this : the UMNO government is throwing so much money
to a particular community; so they fear that they will lose their
free enjoyment at the cost of other rakyat. Well they have to work hard to earn money – like everyone else. See the number of unemployment.
Many factories have closed down. Who is affected – mainly the Malaysian Indians and foreign workers – what will they eat. The BN is not bothered about the plight – what the labour Minister – Subra is doing – he is supporting the Perak UMNO government. Subra must be thrown out and a persons WHO UNDERSTANDS LABOUR PROBLEMS should be brought in to tackle and take appropriate steps. The government should come out appropriate packes to help the unemployed.
Rather than taking steps to alleviate unemployment problems, they
are divering to support UMNO’s illegal activities.
And our JUDICIARY IS WATCHING WITH FOLDED HANDS. While the
Law Lecturers are appearing in the TV why not a Panel of three to
5 judges appear and give their legal/constitutional views on the current turmoil. Who is better – the Judges or the Lecturers.

The ruling regime (could be) stimulating the Malaysian economy by (perhaps rewarding) defecting politicians from the other side.

Anil, thanks for the updates. Just like everyone else, I am waiting to see what is going to happen in Perak. Let’s pray everything ends peacefully.
I am rather surprised about Karpal’s views about Anwar. Any idea why Karpal is so angry? Is trouble brewing in the oppostion camp? I certainly hope not. The opposition must stay united if they want to make bring about changes in our beloved country.

Anil, I understand that 1000 or more BN/UMNO youths were at the illegal gathering and shouting ‘KETUANAN MELAYU’.Were the MCA, MIC & PPP youths who were there also shouted ‘KETUANAN MELAYU’ in unison with the UNMO youths. Just curious.

hey everyone…
actually this ‘happening’ around us i.e. the malaise en malaisie, or the malaysian situation can turn out a bit painful and embarrassing at the same time. … i hope, by the grace of god, we would manage to rectify the current ‘electric’ emotions among malaysians by good governance. embarrassing cos here we are, an advanced nation wannabe, still find it hard to accept liberal views. our people need to keep cool and not let go off steam unnecessarily.
please, let calmness rule our head. our misunderstanding lies to the fault of our leaders. leaders who rave and rant to gain political mileage….
peace bros
