Pakatan Rakyat supporters gather at the Mentri Besar’s official residence tonight

ipoh-001

Ipoh at 6.30pm. A huge dark cloud hangs over Ipoh as the rain pelted down

This time, although I will leave the readers’ comment feature on in the ‘live’ pane below, I will only approve a few selected comments to appear inside the pane so that the flow of the report is not disrupted. Remember, this is not a chat room. If you find your comment not appearing inside the pane, you can always add it at the end of this post in the usual way.

The lack of Leadership all around – when we are facing CRISIS Unprecedent is AMAZING

See My Blog on a Amercian, Malaysian and Austrlian Analysis – which concludes that we are still seeking a Crisis Transformational Leadership Deed and Leaders are defined by the deeds not words

  5. See what I found in the Malaysian Bar website. It probably refers to the love song “Madu Atau Racun?”, or “Honey or Poison?”

    Here’s the piece:

    ‘MADU ATAU RACUN?
‘Written by Stephen Tan Ban Cheng, Thursday, Feb 05 2009 08:31 am

‘Way back in the early 1960s, President John F. Kennedy alluded, to the Chinese calligraph for “crisis.” He knew it, rightly, to be a combination of two individual words, “Danger” and “Opportunity.”

‘The present political development in Perak has all the makings of a crisis, but can our leaders see the “danger” as well as the “opportunity”?

‘The crisis marks a sad augury for democracy in our young country but our political leaders must realise the importance of their response.

‘The danger lies in cursing our future generations to live with a half-past-six democracy. The opportunity presents itself in blessing our future generations to live in a democracy where the sanctity of their individual ballot is respected in absolute terms.

‘So what is it going to be? A blessing or a curse? As my Malaysian Malay friends will put it, “Madu atau racun”? Honey or Poison?’

So, with the generasi baru or new generation in mind, what’s on the menu? Honey or Poison?

  7. it has been sometime since malaysian witness such a drama depicting malaysian politics.but this time around makes me ponder the existance of two party/alliance will actually do more harm than good.maybe the malaysian public has matured but sadly so the politician from either two has not,now i wonder the matured malaysian public going to turn to whom>?same game-different player.

  9. Today 5 Feb 2009 . A day we will remembered and learn.

I will not sad because the tiger has shown his stripes. If you have money and power you can steal people land and broke people heart. What is the difference this act with the US attacking and hijack the land of Afganistan and Isreal attacking Palestine.

Sadly today I learn that someone who I respected for so long will never be respected again as he did not listen to the people voice anymore.

A kingdom who been governance by a good fellowship has been hijacked and sad thing, it has been seen as a good act ..

Sorry perakian .. I know how you feel ..

  15. As the sky darkens, so do the hearts and minds of millions of Malaysians.

This is a dark day for all of us.

I hope that the date “Feb 5″ will be marked in all our calendar, to remind us how fragile our democracy really is.

  23. Would like to share with you guys what I found from SPR’s website.

On 8 March 2008, during the 12th General Elections, 871,736 Perakians went to the polls together with fellow citizens across Malaysia to choose a representative to represent them in both parliament and the state assembly.

5,644 Perakians chose not to vote and did not return the ballot after registering at the polling stations.

20,421 votes were rejected as spoilt (whether intentionally or unintentionally we will never know).

1,635 chose to cast their votes for independent candidates.

    Now come the important part. Of these 871,736 Perakians who went to the polls;

400,682 voted for a BN candidate
    AND
443,354 voted for a PR candidate!

If you put it in percentage terms, 51% of those who went to the polls voted for PAKATAN RAKYAT whilst only 46% voted for BN.

    Coup D’etat.
