Cops arrest 29 ahead of #TangkapNajib protest

Where o where is this country heading to under Najib’s leadership?

About 30 activists were detained near Sogo and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Razak in downtown KL this afternoon as cries of “Undur, undur; undur Najib!” and “Tangkap, tangkap; tangkap Najib!” pierced the air. They were among 200 who had gathered for a #TangkapNajib protest.

The 29, who included activists Fahmi Zainol and Hishamuddin Rais and ‘Auntie Bersih’ Annie Ooi, were taken to the police contingent headquarters in KL.

At this rate, with so many arrests and people hauled up, is there enough place in the lock-ups and prisons for all those unhappy with Najib’s leadership?

Meanwhile, Adam Adli and Syukri Razab have been remanded for six days and Mandeep Singh of Bersih for four days.

“1MDB welcomes the clear statement from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, which confirms that no funds from 1MDB were transferred to the Prime Minister.

We have always maintained that the company has never provided any funds to the Prime Minister as per our media statement on 3 July 2015, confident that the truth will prevail.

To continue to suggest otherwise, as PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli did in his blog yesterday, is highly irresponsible and a deliberate attempt to undermine the company.

This is despite 1MDB publishing on 3 June 2015 a summary of what the RM42 billion debt has been used for, information that is fully disclosed in 1MDB’s audited and publicly available accounts from 31 March 2010 to 31 March 2014.

We reproduce here the two infographics of the summary.”

  2. DAP is a threat to racial harmony

That is how Malaysia’s politik baru is to be played. It must be DAP’s way or no way. And if we disagree then we must be whacked. And since I do not agree with what they are doing that means I am a traitor. Traitor to what? Traitor to the country or traitor to DAP?

No, my loyalty is to Abdul Hadi Awang and PAS. And if you regard Hadi and PAS as your enemy, which the DAP Chinese do, then I also regard you as my enemy. And in case you do not realise it, this is what democracy is all about: the right to choose….

  3. Mr Anil, I think an account has been set up to help those who sacrificed themselves to save the nation. If you know, please provide. Tq!

      • The past 2 months is really a hilarious drama by the opposition to bring down a democratic elected govt & PM with lies and deception. Before Najib does come out to reveal the source of that money 2.6 billions, Rafizi is already pre-empting another new story or to be correct lies and deception.

Rafizi now realizes the allegation that RM2.6 billion is not 1MDB’s money but instead a donation so he start to spin another story. This seem to be also Mahathir realization. Many are puzzled as to why Najib did not just come out and say so earlier. Yes let them keep on alleging and then when they have run out of steam whack them once and for all with the truth and he did right with the RESHUFFLE. In fact, Muhyiddin had also revealed that the money might have come from ‘somewhere in the Middle East’. Political donation is not a corruption. It is openly practice by the DAP, PKR, opposition and the US. Only recently, Malaysia second richest man also did loaned 1MDB 2 billions or it could also be a donation.

Rafizi now knew that he has been checkmate so he no longer talks about the matter but now focuses on the RM42 billion-1MDB issue. He keep pinpointing to the 42 billions liabilities or debts incurred by 1MDB. Why keep talking of the 42 billions liabilities and not the 60 billions assets that 1MDB have. Every accountant knows that accumulated liabilities are not actual debts. Assets such as properties that are depreciated by the year could be valuated much higher than the amount in the balance sheet.

The oppositions will continue to spin lies after lies. DAP and LKS will at all cost engage MP which they once describe as the worst of worst. If you open your eyes and mind, are they now not one and the same as that worst of worst out to mislead the people

      • Is it not strange that Najib can hold money in trust for BN or Umno while the deputy Umno president Muhyiddin Yassin is unaware of it?

    • It’s like saying somebody secretly donated C4 for a job well done.
Now, is everything in the clear???

    • Nothing unusual. Malaysian secornd richest man has given a loan or could it be a donation of 2 billions(?)

    • Kadir Jasin wrote this in his blog:

Who are these donors and why did it take such a long time for the MACC and the 1MDB Taskforce to discover that the US$700 million was from donations?

With the benefit of hindsight, the donations story and the talk about the generous Arab benefactor/s could be wholly possible. It has been publicly announced that Mohd Najib’s wife, (Datin Paduka Seri) Rosmah Mansor, is very close to the wealthy Arabs, including members of royal families.

The question is: If the unaccounted 1MDB money or debts did not go to the Prime Minister’s private account, why did it go?

Many more questions about 1MDB’s modus operandi and dealings remain unanswered.

If the money in the Prime Minister’s account/s was not from 1MDB, why didn’t Jho Low say so or why did people linked to the account/s had to run away from the country?

People who were sought by the Taskforce, including Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil and (Datuk) Suboh Mohd Yassin, should now come forward to clear the Prime Minister’ name.

As for the MACC, the whole bunch of its top echelon, starting with Chief Commissioner (Tan Sri) Abu Kassim Mohamed, should resign voluntarily for failing to discover earlier that the US$700 million in the PM’s personal account/s at AmIslamic was from donations, failing which they should be sacked!

How can they play play with the Prime Minister like that?

Hopefully we are not being presented with yet another round of silap mata and sihir in the 1MDB saga.

In Saudi Arabia, if you are found guilty of practising sihir (black magic), you can be put to death. For stealing you will have your hand chopped off.

Lying is “dosa besar” (capital sin).

    • The USD700 million transaction into Najib’s personal account exceeded the RM50,000 threshold and would require Bank Negara to be informed. Can Zeti explain why she has been quiet on this donation?

  4. “So I find it rather perplexing that lately the likes of Tony Pua and Lim Kit Siang have been hypocritical enough in demanding Najib reveals the sources of political funding for BN and Umno when they have maliciously rejected the political funding reform initiative in the first place.” (Star, 1.8.2015)

Since the Barisan Nasional’s Director of Strategic Communication Abdul Rahman Dahlan’s challenge to Pakatan Rakyat to declare their stand on political funding, we have not had a response from any of the component parties of the opposition coalition. The Prime Minister himself has also repeated this challenge to introduce reforms of the laws on political funding, claiming that he is prepared to do so if it was reciprocated by PR.

  5. When British PM was here for an official visit, Sarawak Report chose to pull a fast one by publishing a purported draft charge sheet against the PM Najib. It was another cheap political stunt by Clare Rewcastle, to DECEIVE ordinary Malaysians and smear the country & PM. Pro-opposition and their supporters fell into the trap by publishing her articles and making simplistic and inaccurate comments.

Clare latest gambit in her incessant attacks on Malaysia proved to be a pack of lies, with the new AG & his officials within hours knocking it down, labelling it as false. They said the draft was NEVER WRITTEN or issued by the AG’s Chambers. In the first place, the CREDIBILITY, TRUTH & ACCURACY of reports carried by the Clare website have been in great DOUBT following the recent arrest of Justo in Thailand over alleged extortion and blackmail.

The charge sheet episode seems to support the story of how the Malaysian government is being targeted by perpetrators and foreign media: that a series of relentless criminal leakages of documents and blatant fabrication of documents are firmly pointing to a political conspiracy at work to unseat the PM. The evidence is abundantly clear. The unauthorised release of confidential bank statements, leaks in corporate dealings and investigations into 1MDB affairs, and the tampering and doctoring of emails and company documents are proof that these ACTIONS are DELIBERATE.

The new AG responding to the purported charge sheet incident, made it clear that the Special Task Force investigation had not been completed. “So, it is NOT LEGALLY possible for charge sheets to be drafted in advance. He added that: “These alleged charge papers, therefore, indicate that there is a conspiracy to topple a serving PM by criminalising him, and that the methods include doctoring, stealing, fabrication & CRIMINAL leakage.”

IGP Khalid has not ruled out the possibility of a conspiracy to topple the PM undemocratically. Khalid has said the police had been asked by the then AG (Patail) on July 8 to conduct a full probe into allegations that bank documents were leaked to foreign local nationals like Clare, media tycoon, oppositions & many others . He said officials of the Special Task Force and BNM were also being investigated over the alleged leakage of classified documents. Such criminal acts raised NATIONAL SECURITY implications, he added.

Khalid said the leaking of banking information, whether doctored or otherwise could result in multiple offences under the Financial & Islamic Services Act 2013 and Official Secrets Act 1972. Under Section 124 of the Penal Code, anyone who directly or indirectly commits an activity detrimental to parliamentary democracy faces between 10 and 20 years in jail. These include those who print, publicise, sell, issue, circulate or reproduce any document or publication detrimental to parliamentary democracy.

The laws has been broken. ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN. National Security is at stake.
Who are these conspirators? Whose main intention is to take power undemocratically. Time will tell.

  6. The former DPM is not known to be a bright spark.
Yet, he did asked for clarifications and demanded straight answers to be given.
If he as a DPM is blur & in the dark , this also very means that the entire cabinet of ministers are “blur sotong” as well.
Now, if his boss failed to give honest simple answers to his own not so bright deputy. Who are we kidding here?
Can expelling , banning and arresting stops all questions ?

      • Foreign friends of Malaysia lah.

One (American) grew up in Kuala Lumpur while the other (British) grew up in Sarawak.

    • There is one head that newly wears the deputy that dares anyone “Don’t play with me”.
Is that one bengkak head with big ugly ego?
Doesn’t he understand the meaning of serving the Rakyat (with humility of a servant)?
Where does his fat salary comes from?
Mind you, serving the Rakyat is different from riding a super bike.

  7. Demi Malaysia’s statement today:

“Actually, the #TangkapNajib rally was to be a measure of the new deputy prime minister’s performance, who is also the home minister in charge of the police. We believe that the harsh actions by the police was intended to frighten the public,”

  8. The police are now very lenient in arresting. Nowadays they don’t carry a truncheon. Previously if you resist an arrest the normal procedure is to use the truncheon to control. That’s I have been trained for and should be put to good use

  9. This is indeed a mockery to the Peaceful Assembly Act.
What harm can Auntie Bersih do the public at this assembly to warrant polis arrest?

Section 124 of the Penal Code is ‘more terror’ than ISA?

  10. It was reported that the police allegedly began arresting three activists despite promising to invite them only for negotiations, and then proceeded to arrest 29 more who participated in the anti-Najib rally organised by Demi Malaysia.

Are the authorities breaking “promise after promise” and are ignoring the supremacy of the federal constitution and fundamental human rights?

  11. The rest of the BN component parties better “ber-surai”.
Now another top Umno leader said it out loud that Umno does not need the support from the rest.
The previous message came from a former chief minister of Malacca.
The meaning is very clear .Elaboration is not required.

      • Mohamad Hasan is projecting ‘ultra melayu’ image in front of Najib, in a last ditch effort to save his MB position? Wonder how the new MCA minister Chong Sin Woon would respond.

      • We will be dunggu if we not see PAS taking Selangor as mentioned by yang. But umno wants to take over Negri semiblan. All dunggu sided with jib khor agree on ns umno?
