In a ringing condemnation, 125 civil society groups and five political parties have come out to against the attempted arson attacks against churches following the controversy over the use of the word Allah.
The groups, covering a wide spectrum of Malaysian society, issued the statement here at a joint press conference held at the Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall this afternoon.
The condemnation comes in the wake of the latest attempted arson attack on a fourth church.
Rev Hermen Shastri, the General Secretary of the Council of Churches of Malaysia, says he has been informed that the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in PJ old town has been fire-bombed sometime between last night and this morning.
“Police report made and police investigating. Fire bomb missed window and minor damage,” he said in a text message.
Anil,
According to the M-Kini report ( http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/121544 ) they have proofs that the organizer of the protests yesterday came from UMNO.
This guy’s name is Arman Azha Abu Hanifah (pic at http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/9630/jerkw.jpg ) and he is the guy responsible for Pergerakan Pemuda Umno Petaling Jaya Utara

Apparently, there was an incident earlier at the Agape revival Church in Ampang.
http://www.malaysia-today.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=29488:selangor-cpo-two-more-incidents-in-selangor&catid=19:newscommentaries&Itemid=100131
and perhaps another in Kg Subang
http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/index.php/malaysia/48960-igp-denies-kg-subang-church-attack-and-car-smashing-in-bangsar-
So that could bring the number of incidents to six.
My gut feeling tells me that the churches should be especially vigilant tonight, especially as tomorrow is Sunday – the day of prayer for Christians.
What the Muslim religious leaders and scholars such as Tok Guru need to do is to clarify the sore point in this “Allah” controversy – and that its the issue of the Trinity.
Statements and comments on pro-UMNO blogs such as Rocky Bru and BigDogdotcom, as well as a pro-Pakatan Muslim friend say that they cannot accept the “Christian God” in “three persons” being called by the same name as the “Muslim God” who is one person and pure.
The Jews, Christians and Muslims worship the same Almighty God.
However the Jews and Muslims view Almighty God as a single holy entity who is in heaven and everywhere else at the same time.
The Christians believe that Jesus is a manifestation of the Almighty God born as a sinless human on earth through a sinless mother with the mission to preach and to be killed and to resurrect so he can be the bridge between humans with their shortcomings (sin) and the Almight God who is perfect and pure.
The Jews do not accept Jesus as messiah, while the Muslims accept and respect him but as a man who is a prophet of the Almighty God.
The Christians also view the pervasive aspect of the Almighty God as the Holy Spirit (Roh Suci).
So what the Muslim leaders and scholars need to clarify is whether it is OK for Christians to call the Almighty God in heaven or God the Father as Allah but not Jesus or the Holy Spirit.
Their reply on this matter would go a long way to ease concerns among Muslims on this contentious issue.

Thanks, Charles, I called up a couple of church reps who have been monitoring events closely and neither was able to confirm or verify those two reports (Ampang and Kg Subang) that you mentioned.

your dream never comes true. They know these church attacks were just criminal acts by mobs. It has nothing to do with the government.

Yes we know that these church attack were criminals acts. But who aggravate the situation.. Could it be the statement by the PM that these people have the right to demonstrate made these people to go a step further. A good leader and pM should not have made such comment which could influence these people into doing such act.Instead he should have ask all those who are going to demonstrate to avoid doing so. IS THIS THE TYPE OF UMNO – BN PM THAT YOU WANT. WHAT SHOULD WE DO, KICK THEM OUT IN THE NEXT GE…..

What a disgrace this country has come to that level – burning house of worship – Churches! Thought this will only happen in Southern Thailand and remote Indonesia, Sudan and Zimbabwe. Thanks to (certain politicians and their followers)!

Now the IGP Musa Hassan said they cannot ensure security for every churches! Why won’t they act fast and round up all those who fanned the fire of anger for weeks on? They had no problems, intolerant and were never slow in action when it came to peaceful Candlelight Vigilers and those who wore black inside coffeeshops having teh-tarik and roti-canai? The FRU aka Red Squad were sent to (deal with) concerned citizens who did not agree with the Establishment, remember?
Aren’t we tax-payers paying their salaries or Najib and Hishammuddin? Are they above the law?

The current BN government is dependent on east malaysian states for its survival. Christians make up large proportion of these states.
Let it be known that the current provocation and agitation will be remembered in the next election.
We will not forget and we must not forget.

Gerakan K, please grow up and be a bit more mature. If you want the rest of the blog readers to sit up & listen to you, stop your blind support and allegiance to KTK and BN. You will soon be known as Gerakan “Irrelevant” K

Well despite all pep talk by your list of idols, BN still the government of the day. I’m not “syiok sendiri”, but to witness the administration of BN government. Well, as usual the PR still the government in waiting. I don’t know how long the PR supporters like you, wira, jong, and others have to wait. Maybe another 52 years.
@SamG
Show me the proof if any accusation towards PM/UMNO/BN regarding to these arson attacks indeed true as claimed. Otherwise please stop your baseless accusation.
Wake up and look into (possible) diversion tactic by (opposition parties)…
@Jong
It is indeed true that the police + army cannot fight any guerrilla (random) attack. For example, please look at Iraq. The police + FRU can easily dismiss illegal demonstrations because these demonstrations were preplanned in advance. Thus the security forces knew the target.

Najib is adamant that “1Malaysia” is still intact. Everybody knows, unless he is a buffoon, that “1Malaysia” is about multibillion advertising contracts. Najis is indirectly correct, the gravy train will still go on. And who did he boast this fairy tale to? – to some 7,000 Umno supporters in Hulu Selangor.
But for the others: what the heck, if there is really a “1Malaysia”, why were 3 churches being torched over a non-issue?

1Malaysia is truly alive and on track. 1PM says Black is White, 1Malaysia must believe. 1PM thinks 1Malaysia stupid, and ultimately only 1Gerakan K still convinced 1PM telling the truth…
So you see all the 1 stuff is still relevant.

This is 1MISSION that went wrong and miscalculated because after so many successes, they think they can get away with it again.
This time, there could be an enemy from within that is capitalising on the situation, just like MCA struggle in leadership.
If you all are following the sequence of events, you can make your own analysis, why slowly more and more covered up are exposed. Could there be internal information been released by someone not happy been sideline or someone could not wait for his/her turn. Most of these information are privy to the inner circle only. Is it a case of, don’t do unto others and others will not do unto you!…

French mum on probe into Scorpene deal
Sun Jan 10, 2010
SHAH ALAM: The Embassy of France in Malaysia is declining to comment on any possible investigations into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak over the purchase of two Scorpene submarines when he was Defence Minister.
Login to find out more:
http://freemalaysiatoday.com/english/?p=6575
I heard something on the two investigators were in KL last week to gether datas and thought it could be another information cooked up by Drs Spinner.
Anil or anyone else have any other information on this subject.
Has the ALLAH controversy anything to do with redirecting the the attention of the Malaysian citizens for all the recent scandals that starts to pop up from under the carpet like loss jet engines, money changer illegal tranfers of currency, TBH case, etc etc. I think you people know what else is in the list.
Whatever it is, we should not give anyone the slightest chance to use the ALLAH controversy to divide the Malaysians to safe their own skin and escape from all the scandals that is now out in the open and we are not the correct answers.
