Technically speaking, the Sarawak Chief Minister did speak at the House of Lords – but it appears to have been in a room down a corridor.
Not quite the image many had in their minds. Blog reader Sean took the initiative to write to the House of Lords about the visit.
According to him, the House of Lords replied:
Thank you for your email.
The Information Office does not keep records of events organised by individual Members of the House. It does, however, look like this video was recorded in a room of the House of Lords.
I am sorry that I cannot be of more help.

How do you call your work as independent journalism’s when you refuse to report the DAP’s side of alleged scandal, eg this one “DAP councillor denies graft claims, mulls legal action” (http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/dap-councillor-denies-graft-claims-mulls-legal-action/)
I think you have changed for financial decision and sacrifice your value as well.

On the one side, some accuse me of being a closet Gerakan supporter.
And on the other, I am supposed to have received angpow from DAP.
I am confused!

Aa well, criticism is just part of the job dear Anil. I guess Gerakan K is only happy when you criticise PR, but not so happy when you criticise BN. He’s bias, I’m happy with you criticising either side. Besides, many people can be quite bias like Gerakan K (that is, happy when BN is criticised, angry when PR is criticised, or happy when PR is criticised, angry when BN is criticised). IT’S NORMAL.
As long you are independent, we will respect your views on issues relevant to us all.

What do you think a blog is for?
To please your political masters?
To polish shoes of wayward politicians?
To tell lies and assumptions when the truth is so obvious?
To spite a personality without facts but fancies?
To threaten others with foreboding?
To create ‘noises’ irritating other commentators?
To call names like ‘machais’?
To order the blogger what to blog and what not to?
Anil, you contribution as an alternative media is invaluable and commendable.
In these days of biased, distorted reporting by MSM, we need a more balanced, factual, up to date, accountable but fearless, fanciless, unassuming and witness-supported reporting and blogging to share the facts of Malaysian life, some of which have been ‘hidden’ for umpteen years from the public prior to blogs, twitters and other alternative media.
And one more thing.
Anil, your blog is like a pasar malam with all the … comments, nice and intelligent discourse, and of course some ‘cats and dogs’ howling here and there.
I personally don’t mind at all. This is part and parcel of blogging otherwise why call it a blog? It actually makes it more interesting and challenging place to blog comments in anilnetto.com minus the Gerakan threats!
Anil, keep it up. Bravo.

Hi Anil,
That means you are doing the right thing !
Ok, in my opinion, the so-called “independent journalism” cannot exist in Msia as long as the Printing Presses and Publications Act (PPPA) and other draconian laws like ISA, etc continue to exist in this country. The newspapers, TV, radio in this country continue to be controlled by the BN parties. Therefore, in this current situation, the primary role of Internet media/blogs in Msia must be to CORRECT and BALANCE the weight of news and publications. By implication, it means that the Internet community should give MORE airtime to opposition and dissenting news and views, in order to balance the weight of “BN-biased” news and views that dominate and saturate our airwaves (much of it funded by taxpayers’ money).
When the time comes that Pakatan takes over and successfully repeal all these draconian and unjust laws … when Msiakini, Malaysian Insider, Msia Today and perhaps even Anil himself can publish their own independent newspapers freely, and when independent private ventures can own media companies to compete freely and fairly with the Utusan Group, TV3 Group, Sin Chew, the Star, etc. – then and only then, can we talk about Independent Journalism in the true sense of the word.
Until then, Anil, you are doing the right thing and may I salute you for granting us the pleasure of reading and commenting on your blog.

Gerakan K has the brain of a …, the IQ of a doorknob. What Anil’s postings do in respect of Taib are not about DAP or Gerakan. They are about how a salaried employee of the State, supposed to serve the people who “elected” him, can, it is alleged, amass a veritable fortune… They are about accountability, corruption, issues which affect the ordinary Malaysian. They are about how the man has failed to better the lives of Sarawakians…

I would say, Anil please report whatever is of interest. In fact, i thank you for that reporting!!!
Wah! You guys are dictating on Anil what he can report and what he cant!!! Are you guys the bosses of Anil? Paying Anil’s salary?
Anil, let them be disappointed, who cares? Who they think they are that you are to report according to their wishes? Go and tell other bloggers and see.
Mr Anil, I appreciate your work even though i disagree with your Kg Buah Pala’s issue.

Hold your horses Gerakan K. The case of Taib Mahmud is so blatant that it is obvious he is building wealth abroad in case Malaysia falls to PR in the next GE.
And why Anil hasn’t reported the case about the DAP councillor is that he needs to assess the facts at hand first and add any new information that will be disseminated in the next few days. After gaining enough evidence and convinced about the clear cut case, then he’ll report where it is due.
Even if Anil doesn’t report about it here, you can always go to Malaysia Today or Malaysiakini. It’s one of the hot issues and they’ve always get there 1st as compared to Anil.

Yes, I am just one person, and I cannot possibly cover all issues. I cover those that get my attention and those that I am able to get some information. Usually I try not to duplicate what has already been reported elsewhere – unless it’s something that I feel people have not given enough attention to.

The many machais who are so ferocious defending Lim Guan Eng are not making Mr. Anil’s job any easier.
Would you, G, kindly lend your hand to Mr. Anil to unearth as many unpleasantries from the DAP as possible, please?

The task of “unearthing many unpleasantries from DAP” has already been taken by the Star newspaper. The very well-funded and well-protected newspaper. No need for others to undertake the dirty job. We should publish those things which the mainstream media fails to, refuses to, afraid to or unwilling to, report. That’s justice. That’s balance.

In all fairness, i have to admit that i am displeased with the DAP Selangor issue as well. It is not good for party image if it projects itself for CAT. It must practice this upfront in the open as well. If it is true, put a fair hearing and communicate the decision to the public (can’t do it behind door now since its out in the open). If the evidence says it’s not true, fine. People will accept it. Otherwise, so long as it drags on, it’s a stain on DAP Selangor.

A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. BRING ON THE INVESTIGATIONS! Let this issue be solved fairly (which is, the guilty party gets charged). Some of the documents have been released on the Malaysia Today (RPK) website (by a certain Pakatan Insider). You can take a look at it Gerakan K.
No matter what, I only have one party in my heart, which is PAS. The state government led by PAS is doing well at the moment. KEDAH SEJAHTERA.

Now we’re talking on the same page. Regardless of who is helming the state government, it’s time to put aside partisan politics and be supportive regardless of whether BN or PR is the government. I mean, supportive not as in not criticising. Criticise, yes, but constructive. Give them a guide on how to solve the problem.
In the issue of Taib Mahmud, we must all remember, he (or his family) has plenty of assets abroad, and that is already blatant enough without the MACC investigating. Ever wonder why Sarawak is the poorest state in Malaysia despite it being rich in natural resources? Solution: Kick out Mahmud Taib. Simple as that. As a lecturer in Monash Sunway (James Chin – political analyst) would say, “people in Sarawak does not reject Najib, but they reject Taib Mahmud.”
In the case of the alleged corruption of the DAP councillor, if he is to be found guilty, kick him out, simple as that. If he’s not guilty, then we owe that guy an apology for accusing him of corruption in the 1st place. We don’t have to kick out everyone in DAP Selangor, as that would mean generalisation, which will bring a misconception. As they say, you are innocent until you are proven guilty. Not the other way around, which is you are guilty until proven innocent. Same thing as I treat BN, not everyone in BN is bad, same thing as not everyone in PR is an angel. It’s politics mate. It depends on what you want to achieve in politics.
RPK mentioned that voters are selfish. Each of them have different objectives in voting. Some would vote because they have trust in the parties they support, some would vote because some party gave them money to vote for them, and some would vote because in order to ‘jaga periuk nasi’. So, we have all kinds of commenters here on Anil’s blog. It’s the ability to embrace both views of the political divide that is important. LET’S FIND THAT COMMON GROUND IN ISSUES FROM NOW ON.

Let us be clear about the different between PR and BN policies. PR leaders do not tolerate or are against corruption or abuse of power. Meanwhile, BN are using Judiciary, Police… to try to benefit themselves to the fullest and their top leaders are all in it as well. Only a minority in BN top leaderships are clean. In contrast PR majority of the top leaderships are clean and maybe some are dirty.
So, I am surprise if PR supporter and those on the fence cannot differentiate that. If you want to get rob in the day light choose BN but if you want a chance to be treated fairly choose PR. At this moment this is a very clear difference between PR and BN.

Okay, I am listening.
“PR leaders do not tolerate or are against corruption or abuse of power.”
Are you sure?
Lim Guan Eng certainly is not doing that.
A. Lim Guan Eng (sells out) our Botanical Garden for a mere 7 million ringgit to the FED for them to erect all thsoe ugly concrete structures.
B. Lim Guan Eng tried … to usurp 50 million ringgit of Penang taxpayers’ money by building his ~PICC~ white elephant.

Brother, so you tak siok la Anil highlighted the plight of the Penans, how they had been exploited in their very own land, how they suffered as natives and how the school children were raped, these are all REAL happenings and not just alleged facts, they HAPPENED right in front of the nation’s eyes, how can Anil, being an upright person (i believe) not reporting all these evil deeds in Sarawak.
As a human, how can you be so unhappy about all these reportings ?
You may not care about the natives and their sufferings but the rest of us (majority) do.
How can the reporting of the above, the sufferings of the Penans contradict Anil’s independent journalism???
Anil had earlier strongly criticised Lim Guan Eng in Kg Buah Pala’s issues…
He reports whatever is not fair or does not seem to be fair to him, and who are we to tell him he can report this and he cant report that?
Ya, Alam said it right, if you are not happy here, you can go and read Utusan, NST, even Star or the TV news. They are all for you brother, in your terms, in your favour, why not?
Have a good day, anyway!!!

Taib is probably there to establish some personal relationships just in case he has to pack up and leave S’wak. He will need an asylum somewhere, where better that the UK. After all, he probably thinks he is british!
He (may) want a title of sorts that’s valid in the UK, probably a Lordship!…
In the UK the upper house i.e. the house of lords is not an elected body of representatives by the people but a bunch of lords and ladies with peerages which taib is probably keen on!
Afterall, one can buy these titles in the UK.
His uncle spent many years there in London after he retired as governor. Maybe taib is planning to do the same. Good riddance to taib!

The MACC should investigate Sarawak Chief Minister for his (or his family’s) enormous wealth & assets here and abroad.
So long as the Police and MACC is under the control of … politicians we all have a very serious problem of rampant corruption, where billions are (whittled away) through cronies and hidden accounts.
Just image a corrupt, racism and ISA free Malaysia !
