Things are beginning to settle. Supporters of Anwar are very pleased as they feel that they have done their best this time around to campaign for Anwar. Supporters of BN seem quite frustrated. Things don't seem to favour them. A lot of issues brought up by their masters have backfired, according to them. The issue of Saiful was actually a non-issue to many people in Permatang Pauh. They felt that the explicit way of showing and telling the people about what happened to him did not augur well with the community here. Most disbelieved Saiful's version of the story. Ustaz Ramlang had his final say on this issue and this spoiled BN's image on the eve of election day. Nik Aziz, Haron Din and Hadi hammered in the last message to the people of this constituency. They managed to convince most Malays into disbelieving the media and Saiful's confession and swearing. Many BN workers resigned very much earlier, thinking that there is no hope for their candidate, Ariff. Their general perception is that Ariff is no match to Anwar. Anwar to them is more charismatic. All campaigns will come to a stop in an hour's time. Things have slowed down. Through my random survey of opinions here, the verdict is going to be: Anwar will win with a big majority, surpassing that of his wife in the March 8 election.Even most BN supporters felt the same. Those favouring the Opposition wants a strong personality like Anwar to be in the parliament. Some UMNO supporters did not want to see a victory for Ariff, worse still reduce the majority votes if Anwar wins. They feel that this will endorse Pak Lah's victory. These supporters are not in favour of Pak Lah leading UMNO. Neither are some convinced with Najib. With this situation, Anwar will gain most when the votes are cast tomorrow. A puteri umno member quipped, 'habislah kita. ustaz sendiri dah bongkar semua. nampaknya kita buang masa di sini. dah tak boleh buat apa-apa lagi.' another man wearing a cap with BN logo said, 'dah kata awal-awal lagi. orang dah tak percaya kita lagi. saiful ni yang merosakkkan semua. terlampau sangat dok cerita hal saiful. sekarang tengok apa dah terjadi.' on the ground, supporters are in droves for DSAI. any spot i went, they say, 'give DSAI a chance. we want someone like anwar to be in parliament.' the countdown has begun. I got a call from a friend asking me to check if this is true that the percentage now is at 60-40 with BN on the upper hand. Then another friend told me he just came out for PKR office in Sama Gagah, the doctor, ex gerakan guy said that news from the ground not so good. My accountant told me, last friday, an east malaysian chinese tycoon sponosored 35 table dinner at a reputable chinese restaurant promising to contribute RM2 million for the new goddess of mercy temple in Sbg Jaya if the BN wins. All that is hear say. My perception, 80% of non malay votes will go to PKR. The rest lies with the Malay votes, how they swing, I don't know. As I write this, I can hear helicopter flying in the sky of Seberang Jaya. Something is brewing. We are approaching end game soon. Too much rumour circling around. At about 12pm saw an entourage of vehicles with PKR flags nearby Sunway Carnival Mall at Seberang Jaya. I suspected DSAI was somewhere nearby. Can't help noticing was the vehicles with outstation registration and all of them have the PKR or PAS logos. One thing I noticed was the poster wars are mostly on visible areas and kampungs. Nearby my office, the residential taman which houses the middle to upper income families, I did not notice any posters or billboard and we are talking about more than 150 houses in that taman. No PR or BN posters nor signboard, it is as if there is no by election even though this taman is located in the Ptg Pauh constituency. I spoke to a KEMAS officer this morning from Negri Sembilan who has been stationed here in its Sbg Jaya office for the past 1 week about the chances of BN capturing the seat. Despite the confidence expressed by most people on PKR, he told me, BN stand a good chance, 50-50 was the answer given, and that was with confidence expression which taken me aback. He must have known something we don't know. So listen guys, cut the crap about the big majority win by DSAI, something is brewing that the rest of the crowd is missing. We can't take the victory for DSAI for granted. Most important is we need to get our friends and relatives who are voting to get to the polling center and vote. This is important.
