Well, 1st for would need to see how they health care sector is developing in our country. The leaders of the country should be smart in developing the health care industry without ignoring the current government hospital. I bet that most middle class just like me working in a multi-national company are provided with medical benefit/ medical card for both government and private hospital. To say that all the private hospital is taking over the government hospital, then it is a worrying trend. And i agree, the current landscape of private hospitals, we see that it is a case of “monopoly” like for example KPJ.

Back to the hospital that was cost was bore by PETRONAS. PETRONAS is currently sponsoring student for medical studies. I am not if it was the instruction of the government or what. I believe that one of the main reason is to bring back the Malaysian talent that were sponsored overseas to be able to provide healthcare services which were only available in overseas. Besides putting them into prince court, these young malaysians will also be deployed to local government hospitals too.

I think this will work better that some JPA/MARA scholars who don’t return back to Malaysia and work overseas for a bigger income.If we can provide them with the same opportunity for the best talent, i think it is good.

And again, we have many good government hospitals too. Penang, Selayang, IJN, Kuala Pilah, etc. So to privates hospital. My dad live was saved when he had a bypass in IJN. My family couldn’t afford private. So personally, i do not think the investment by PETRONAS is not waste of money but it is going to bring more money for the country.

But the next bug question is, where is all the money given by PETRONAS to the government had gone/channeled too?

But my only hope for the Malaysian healthcare industry would be that all Malaysian will be able to get the best service possible. Do not neglect the government hospital. You need private hospitals to cater for different market, but never and do not ever forgot the needy too.

Another thing, i hope everyone read the writing by SHELL Chairman about PETRONAS that was in the NST. People talk about the unnecessary money PETRONAS spend but nobody every know how much effort we put in to help the needy too. I can tell you more. Because i am part of the company and we too want you to know the truth. We really need to hope and pray that the government do not try to dictate/ control PETRONAS, or we will become another PERTAMINA (Indonesia)

What you’re saying is partially true nowadays. Yes diesel is going Euro 4 and Euro 5 with the CRDi stuff. Most 2.0 / 2.5L pickups with CRDi can do 11 – 13 km per litre easily on city driving. Highway a little better.
However if you notice the new 2.0L Nissan Slyphy petrol version – it claims 16km/litre. So little difference. However diesel quality in Malaysia sucks so there is still the pollution.

The Prince Hospital of Petronas really came as a surprise. Not many people were aware that Petronas had deemed necessary to forray into the health industry. Next they might even open restaurants for their fancy clients. How much of this money is waste – the imported orchestra that has cost RM500M, so far, the hospital and what else. Yet we are deprived of proper medical benefits.
On the equity quota, they want to prove their stupidity in economics by sticking to their base for calculations, which as you have rightly pointed out shouldn’t be; we should cast the racial undertones aside and think as Malaysians.
