Whether the trip result is either success/fail/pending, i will say at least LGE team tried their best to attract foreign investor better than nothing (taiwan trip). My calculation is simple, 52 people are trying their best to bring money into malaysia, which are much more worth, compare to paying out money from malaysia. These Gerakan leaders think money can grow on trees to develop Penang. Do you think federal goverment will help Penang's economy? If they are so sincere and farsighted, they had constructed mass rapid transit and tram system long time ago when our country resources still in abundant. What happen now when crude oil and CPO price decline so much recently. What happen to our 2009 budget. What is the solution of our dear new finance minister? Simple......take RM 5 billion from EPF to bail out UMNO companies, scrap some projects in Northern region since this is PR states, and maybe peg Ringgit. So....Penangite, how to get fund to develop your heritage state? Depend on domestic....? Penangites are known to be KIam Siap people. When there is now spending, there is no economy. 1.2 million of population enough to revive Penang economy? I doubt it. Penang economy need to transform from now. We no longer can compete directly with China, Veitnam and Thailand in labour-intensive industry. Penang need to emulate Singapore and Hong KOng economy towards high end industry such as service, tourism, educational, financial and bioengineering sector.
